ON CATS
Art critic Jerry Saltz once said that artists are like cats.
Dogs jump on you, lick your face, show their love in ways you can't miss. Cats bring you a dead bird and leave it at your door.
Artists do the same thing. We make work and put it out there. We don't force it on you or tell you what to feel.
We just put it in the world. Like a gift. Or a dead bird, depending on how you look at it.
The best conversations, visual or otherwise, are the ones where something is placed quietly in front of you, and you get to decide what it means.
